About

I grew up in Saanich enthralled with the nature that surrounded me. The beaches were a playground full of starfish, eels and migrating birds. Mount Tolmie and Mount Douglas were magical places to explore with twisted trees and sweeping views of the ocean and city.

I started drawing at age four and haven’t stopped.

I was educated in graphic design and illustration at the Ontario College of Art and Design and the Emily Carr College of Art.

In the 1980’s I worked in Vancouver as a graphic designer for Who’s Who in Music, the Georgia Straight, Vancouver Magazine and Western Living. I returned to Victoria in the 1990’s to work as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator.

I mostly painted in acrylic and oils but now do digital painting because of the amazing possibilities of the medium.

Reference for my art comes from my own photos and sketches or else from photos licensed by BC photographers, such as Doug Clement, for that purpose.

“My work is meant to evoke emotion. I’m inspired by the drama of nature – the skies, the light and sense of movement.”
